Happy Halloween, Minnie Mouse!

Makenna dressed up as Minnie Mouse for Halloween. The original plan was that she would be a ghost, but we decided late this week that it wasn't going to work. On Thursday night, I came up with the Minnie Mouse idea and on Friday we MADE the outfit. Brad and I were pretty proud of our craftiness and it turned out really cute!

Keeping Busy!

Makenna has been keeping busy the past few weeks. Two weeks ago she had visits from her family in Kentucky - grandma came up early in the week and then her cousins came to visit at the end of the week. This weekend we went to Columbus to help my mom rake leaves.

8 Weeks!

This week Makenna has been very interested in her playmat. We can definitely tell that she is growing. Every week she is getting more and more interested in us and her surroundings. This week she has laughed and smiled a lot!

7 Weeks!

Makenna was seven weeks old yesterday. Today she had a check up with Dr. Yoder. She is now 10lbs 2oz and 22 3/4 inches long. Very long and lean! She also got three shots today, which was terrible for both of us. She did not like it at all and I felt so bad for her. Below are pictures from the last week. Enjoy!

Here are some pics from the last week. We're starting to notice that Makenna is paying more attention to things around her. She's looking at the mobile on her swing, starting to reach for toys, and focusing on objects on the wall. We're hoping to borrow a play mat from our friend Susie soon - I think Makenna will love it!

Check out these glasses - hilarious! I bought these for her in the baby section but they are obviously waaay too big! She definitely takes after her mommy in that she does not like the sun in her eyes.

One Month Birthday!

Makenna is now one month old!


Brad bought Makenna flowers and a cake for her one month birthday! He is such a thoughtful daddy. (We ate the cake for her). She was so surprised. :-)

Makenna loves to sleep in her boppy. She won't sleep in the crib or cradle, so this is where she ends up most nights.

Just Another Day in Paradise

Its been quite a while since we posted anything on here. Apparently, Brad and I aren't much better at blogging now that Makenna is here than we were before. In our defense, she is wearing us down! No, she is really great, but seriously, we will be soooo happy when she gets on a sleeping schedule (one that doesn't require that Brad or I stay up all night). Right now we are taking turns staying up with her - sometimes she sleeps most of the night, other nights she screams the night away. I thought that staying home with her would be easy breezy - haha! Between feeding and diapers and the screaming, I'm not getting much of anything else done but taking care of Makenna. The dishes definitely aren't getting done, the clutter is taking over and to top it off, our washing machine is broken!

We did take her to get newborn pictures taken. I think she was nine days old when they were taken and we went to view them last week. They turned out very cute. My first week!

Here are some cute pictures taken of Makenna during her first week! Its kind of hard to believe she is a week old already!

Makenna's First Bath

Makenna does not like bathing! Hopefully, it will get better once we are actually able to put her in the water. She is so sweet and snuggly in her towel afterwards.

Going home!

We brought Makenna home on Tuesday night around 9pm. She passed her jaundice test, even though the doctor had us worried that she may not. We got her all dressed up in the little outfit that we bought last spring specifically to bring her home in - kind of funny considering no one was going to see us and she only wore it for about 1/2 hour!

Kangaroo Baby

The morning of day 2 Makenna was only interested in crying hysterically. The only time she would stop was if she was sucking on something. We suspect that the night nurse may have given her a pacifier (which we did not want), but it could also just have been that she was fussy. Either way, she would not calm down. One of the nurses suggested putting her inside my shirt so that she could hear my heartbeat. She looked like a little kangaroo baby, but it worked and she calmed down so that we could all sleep.

Meeting the Family

Makenna had lots of visitors right after she was born and the next day. She did very well with getting her picture taken and letting everyone hold her - although she did not like the flash!
